Here is my picture for this week's assignment. I found this picture on Middle East Online, and the caption below it read; "Egyptian plain clothed policemen arrest a political activist". What really interested me about this picture the most is the angle at which the photographer took it at. I never would have thought of taking this picture from an aerial point of view. He seems to have followed the rule of thirds pretty well, although it is more centered around the activist's neck rather than his face. I attempted to draw on the picture as an example of demonstrating the rule of thirds in this photo in the above picture. Also, you can see that the photographer used the white street lines as leading lines to the subject's face. I also liked how the photographer left a little more room towards the back (right) of the picture, indicating where they had been or that this chase had been going on for a while.
This is a very dramatic photo, what's called the definitive moment or the decisive moment. We will learn more about that when we study photojournalism. great job anylizing the photo. Even though its the man's neck that may land prcisely on the intersecting lines, the rule of thirds is never meant to have to be perfect. It's a general guideline and getting the focus into that general area is what counts. This would be a wonderful example of the rule of thirds. Great photo and great job! Thanks for sharing, Miranda!!!
