The photographer did a great job in telling a major story in Egypt: They're here, they're mobbing, and there's one thing you can be sure of... they're dead serious. (The two "bodies" are actually puppets, symbolizing what these protestors want to happen to President Mubarak.) I got this picture from www.kansas.com, but I honestly can't find the photo roll on which I found this picture ^^. Even when I use the history tab, it only brings up the ads from that page! Ah, well.The photographer did a good job with the rule of thirds for the puppets, and the lower layer of people; the leading line between the people standing and the people sitting curves in and gives an interesting dimension; the background is just a background and doesn't interfere much; the stoplights frame the mob very well; there is leopard lighting in the background (the lamp posts), with diffused lighting on the people, so it's a cool contrast;
Alrightie, if possible, I would have angled over a little to the right to give the puppets an equal amount of space from the edge of the picture, and to include the palm tree on the very left (merger). The angle altogether bothers me the more I look at it!; I don't know if the stop lights randomly on the top bother anyone (I rather like it), but they are mergers, as well; I'm not quite sure what the subject is, or if everything is the subject- maybe the thousands of people perfectly fine with two puppets "hanging" from the stoplight above them. "Yep- they're dead serious," is the macabre subject, I suppose.
Wow, this is another great photo! There are so many wonderful examples coming from Egypt right now. I really wish I was over there covering it myself!
ReplyDeleteGreat analysis of the photo! Thanks so much for sharing, Lilliane!!!
