Cool shot...

Here's a cool photo I took last night. I shot the liquid being poured into a clear class and then removed the glass in Photoshop. I also added the text  and shadow in Photoshop. Notice I made the "l" look like it was behind the pouring tea? It's the little details like that that make the difference.

Bug? Or a fish :)

To me, this cloud looks like the bug that has pincers... or a triceratops. To my sister, this is a fish eating a smaller fish...

Btw, we were out and about today and I saw this. I had forgotten my actual camera-but I had my phone! Came out pretty well for a phone pic :) I think I'll try again when I get the portraits out of the way- but I like this one :)

Beautiful Clouds...

Here's a panoramic I just took of the sky. It's so pretty out. This is actually three photographs put together. We will be learning how to take panoramic photos in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see YOUR sky photos!

Happy shooting!

clouds and again I say clouds!

Alrighty!  Here are my cloud photos!  This first one isn't as much about the clouds as it is about the airplane flying above.  It just drew my eye right then!  The second one shows a lot of contrast. :)  Sorry I couldn't get better!  It's so overcast at my house these are my best.

NEW CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK - PRETTY CLOUDS

Here's a shot I just got about 10 minutes ago of the beautiful sunset in the clouds with my point-n-shoot camera.

This week's challenge is pretty clouds. It doesn't have to be of a sunset, but the photos does have to be of clouds... pretty clouds!!!

Extra bonus if your clouds actually look like an animal like a bunny or a dragon! LOL

Happy shooting!!!

Photo Class This Friday!!!

Ok, so REACH is cancelled for this Friday, so I would like to suggest both classes meet up together on Friday late morning, say, about 11am, to do photo class anyway. I really don't want to miss another class as I'm sure you don't want to either. So, let me know if that works for you and we can go ahead and meet together and really learn some portraiture as one big class... sound good?

Homework for this week...

Everyone did just amazing this past week! Keep up the great work!!!

Portrait
Ok, for this week, our main project is to turn in a single portrait. That doesn't mean only shoot one shot and turn it in. Play around with it and really take the best portrait you possibly can. Here's an example for you. Only shoot from the waist up and fill the frame. Pay attention to the background and make sure it's not cluttered. Look out for leopard lighting. Also, be sure to take the portrait in the shade, NOT in direct sunlight. The background should not be in sunlight either or it will be all blown out. In this picture of Rheagan I took at the park today, I had her lean up against a tree and that was in shade and I used another tree that was in shade as the background. It's out of focus because it was far away and I was using a telephoto at about 150mm. See how it helps separate her from the background so you can focus on what is important... her! Have fun and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Challenge of the week: Delicious!!!
This is the regular challenge so it's part of the homework. But have fun with it and get creative.  The view should look at your photo and get really really hungry! ;o)

Here's my photo. I'm actually now eating the sucker as I type this (well, I can't let a good sucker go to waist!!!) And it IS delicious!!! LOL

The speed challenge will come later in the week.

Happy Shooting!!!

From a "B" to an "A" ? ? ?

Ok, earlier this week I shared with you all a photo I took of a building as an assignment I had in my photo class I'm taking right now. Well, I ended up with a "B" as my grade because the teacher said it wasn't dark and dramatic enough, and it wasn't, especially considering it was supposed to be a dusk shot and mine looked more like it was taken in broad daylight! He knew I could do better and didn't want me to settle with just good. So, I went back and re-edited the photograph to what I think is a much better finished shot. I replaced the sky in the original photograph with a sky I had taken about two weeks ago just for the heck of it. Here's the before and after for you to check out. I was proud of the first shot, but now that I've taken it  to the next level, the second shot is far better. What do you think?

The lesson- only settle for your best and when you think you've done it, do better!!!

Egyptian Family

This picture really shows how serious this protest has become! It has burned down houses and workplaces, it has taken away lives, and it has put people like the people in this picture out in tents or even on the streets!

I think all the "junk" in the pile is very important to the story cause it shows what happen to all of their belongings (I know some people would think its not important to the story.)

Ups and downs to this photo...i think they photographer should have used the rule of third, but he kinda used leading lines and or framing using the cords (idk what else to call them) that where angeled in a V SHAPE and also the Blanket that was about to fly away, its not the obvious so u might have to look hard to notice it.

What i would have done is moved a little more to the left to get the people in a hot spot and to take out the unneeded tent in the left corner while still getting the blanket that was flying away, and maybe zoom in a little more so you could see the womans face a little better while still having some of the "junk" in the picture.
