Portraits + Clouds

So heres the deal, we went to a wedding on Saturday and we were thinking "Hey! Nows a good time to get the portraits out of the way! Everyone is ready now!" But on the down side I didn't have my boards and the lighting was poor because it was rainy that day.
My dad refused to be serious completely or smile his real smile...

Lillianne :)

Mom :) this one isn't my favorite of hers, but the one I liked came out blurry :P

  1. It didn't seem like the portraits assignment would be that hard, but I have had a hard time getting ones I like too. The clouds are beautiful!

  2. The clouds are very beautiful. And yes, portraits are much more of a challenge then you would think. There are so many things to consider when setting up a portrait. One of the biggest things to pay attention to is the background. In the photo of your dad, that wood panel is pretty distracting because it stands out in contrast to everything else. I really like the portrait of Lillianne, although again, the background behind her is a bit much and very bright. Remember, you if your subject is in shade, you background should be in shade too. Practice makes perfect.
